A baby boy is left in a basket outside Asterix's hut - who can have dumped the foundling there, and why? Childcare is something new to the Gaulish warriors, but Asterix and Obelix do their best, although they have had more practice in thumping Romans. Childcare is also new to Crismus Cactus, Prefect of Gaul, who finds himself masquerading as a Gaulish nursemaid. Why are the Romans after the baby - and just what plot is the treacherous Brutus hatching against Julius Caesar? As usual, it's up to Asterix and Obelix to find out … and to save the day …

What the druids have to say about Asterix and Son
One of the best scripts by Albert Uderzo. It sees the return of great characters such as Caesar and Cleopatra, people that readers clamour for as much as they do Panacea. What a wonderful idea to attribute fatherhood to one of our favourite heroes! When it came out, the album had a print run of 2,055,000. It is one of the most popular in the series, given that the French edition alone is now in its 39th reprint.

The year is 50 B.C. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well not entirely! One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders. And life is not easy for the Roman legionaries who garrison the fortified camps of Totorum, Aquarium, Laudanum and Compendium...
